I think I’ve mentioned before that I have the sweetest neighbors. I sent a little text to one of my neighbors to ask if I could bring by a few of my Dutch Apple Pie Bars. She said, “Come on over!” like good neighbors do, and met me at the end of her driveway, saying, “I have something for you to try too!” So you can see we have a really great reciprocating relationship centered around really tasty homemade goodies – the best kind. She brought me into her kitchen, sliced up an apple and gave me a taste of this dip. I loved it right away, and she said, “You can put it on your blog if you want to!”
So here it is!
What’s so great about it, is that you get the taste of caramel apple without any of the fuss. This dip is a thin layer of sweetened cream cheese, caramel topping, and then Butterfingers bits and chopped peanuts. I love the combination of the tart apples, cream cheese, sweet caramel and salty peanuts. You could also top it with toffee bits, which is what my neighbor did. I had the Butterfinger bits (found in the baking aisle) in the pantry so I wanted to use them. You may have a few leftover pieces of Halloween candy laying around? Perfect.
This is the perfect thing to make for holiday get togethers. Just set it out and watch everyone gather around!

PrintEasy Caramel Apple Dip
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 10 servings 1x
- Category: Appetizer
- Cuisine: American
Description
Layers of sweetened cream cheese, caramel, salty peanuts, and Butterfinger bits!
Ingredients
- 5 apples, sliced*
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces caramel topping
- 1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup Butterfinger bits
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whip cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- Spread the sweetened cream cheese into a thin layer on a plate or platter.
- Pour caramel topping over the cream cheese, and then sprinkle with peanuts and Butterfingers bits.
Notes
*To Keep Apples From Turning Brown: Fill a large bowl with 2 quarts of water. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into it. Soak your apple slices for 5 minutes and then drain the water and place the apples in a ZipLoc bag, removing as much air as you can. You can keep them in the fridge for 2-3 days (or more!) without browning.
