My kitchen floor is so sticky. You know when you walk on tile floor that is so dirty that your flip flops make that squelch, squelch, squelch noise with each step?
Yep, that’s where we’re at here.
It’s not that we don’t clean our kitchen floor regularly. In fact, I use my favorite little dust buster every single day to clean up the crumbs from our boys who eat like gerbils. Actually I think that would make a really great baby shower gift! Much more practical than a teeny tiny outfit that will only be worn one time.
Kids + Food = Crumbs
But this is why my kitchen floor is extra sticky.
Last night my husband wanted to top off his bowl of vanilla ice cream with a little chocolate syrup. One problem — our chocolate syrup supply was running dangerously low. So he did what I taught him to do years ago. He held on tight to the bottom of the chocolate syrup bottle and swung it around like a spastic windmill to use centrifugal force to get the few stubborn remaining drops of chocolate syrup to the top of the bottle.
Yeah, I think you see where this is going…
The cap wasn’t on tight enough…
Sticky drops of chocolate syrup all over the kitchen…
Husband does his best to clean up the mess, but remnants of the syrup cling to the floor with reckless abandon. We really should’ve called our site Dirty Little Kitchen.
Can’t blame him though. Sometimes you just really need some chocolate!

Description
Oreo cookie crust topped with a layer of Rice Krispies treats, white chocolate, and more Oreos!
Ingredients
- 25 Oreo cookies, divided
- 1 stick butter, divided
- 3 cups miniature marshmallows
- 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 6 ounces white chocolate (I used Ghirardelli melting wafers)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Crush 20 of the Oreo’s finely. You could use a food processor or a Zip-loc bag and a rolling pin.
- In a small bowl mix the crushed Oreos with 4 tablespoons of melted butter.
- Press the Oreo mixture into the bottom of an 8×8 baking dish. I lined mine with parchment paper, leaving extra paper hanging over the edge of the pan to make the bars easier to remove.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly while you make the Rice Krispies layer.
- In a large nonstick pan, melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Add marshmallows and stir until they are melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies until well combined.
- Firmly press the Rice Krispies mixture onto the Oreo crust. I like to use my butter wrapper to do this.
- Following directions on the package, melt white chocolate. Pour over Rice Krispies and spread to the edges of the pan.
- Give the remaining 5 Oreos a rough chop and sprinkle over white chocolate.
- Allow white chocolate to cool and dry before cutting into bars.

These look so good! Two of my favorite things, Oreos and Rice Krispie treats. YUM! It would be fun to make them for the fall with Halloween Oreos!

The chocolate syrup story is too funny! I’ve had a few sticky moments the last few weeks. The worst was when the maraschino cherry jar tipped over in the fridge, and red syrup was everywhere. Guess the lid wasn’t on tight enough. I’m still scrubbing the fridge, haha!
These rice krispie treats look amazing! I’m a big fan of cookies and cream, so these would be right up my alley.

Thanks Jamie! Ugh- cherry juice would be so sticky!

Hi, Julie! These are so so yummy! I made them tonight for company but the crust didn’t stick to the Rice Krispie part. Did I not press hard enough? I’m making them again tomorrow for a Halloween party. Any suggestions?
Julie says
Hi Aunt Barb- I’m sorry the crust gave you trouble. I’m brainstorming here how you could help it to stick better to the Rice Krispie layer. Hope this is helpful! Love you guys!
A couple of ideas:
Maybe your Oreo crust was a little too cool when you pressed the Rice Krispie layer onto it and that caused them not to mesh together and stick? And yes, you definitely want to press them firmly.
Maybe add a little more marshmallow to the Rice Krispie layer to make it stickier?
Did the layers come apart when you were trying to get them out of the pan or when trying to eat them? Did you line your pan with parchment paper to help get them out easier? Mine were definitely a little crumbly when we ate them (like I made the boys take them outside :0)

I’ll try your suggestions. Thanks! I used parchment and a spatula, but the crust didn’t stick together coming out of the pan. The crust was very cool, and the rice Krispie mixture was pretty cool, too. Got distracted with something in the midst of making them! Company tonight loved them anyway, so it’t a winner. I’ll do better when I make them tomorrow…while I’m babysitting Max and Sam! Lol
Julie says
Glad your company enjoyed them anyway. Have fun with the boys tomorrow!
