It’s time again for my monthly Bits & Pieces – a collection of random things I can’t help but share with you!
1. There’s nothing that motivates me to keep my house clean like fresh flowers. Place a jar of lovely blooms on your kitchen counter, and suddenly you will have the urge to tackle that sink of dishes and sweep those crumbs. I love buying an inexpensive bouquet of flowers from Trader Joes (these were $5.99) and then splitting it up into jars with some greenery from my yard. I can put one arrangement in the kitchen, one in each bathroom, and one on the dining room table to spread the cheer around the house. Just lovely! Treat yourself to fresh flowers, okay?
2. On the homefront, Little Boy #1 has a theory that melting the ice on Mars will provide water and will allow us to live there. He made a diagram, wrote out an explanation, and asked for an envelope and the address for NASA. He’s VERY serious about it and is thinking they will set him up with some college scholarships in return for his idea. {Is it normal for an eight year old to be worrying about college scholarships?} Love the way his brain works. Hoping he will always dream big!
3. Have you heard of a Wardrobe Capsule? This is such an interesting idea. I love the Cheesecake Factory menu comparison. It’s completely overwhelming right?
4. Great tips for beginning runners like me from Tea With Jam and Bread. I just got started a few months ago, and although nothing looks different on the outside, I feel so much better! Hope I can keep going through the summer, when it’s 90 degrees at 6am. Because I refuse to buy a treadmill or gym membership. I will not pay to exercise. If anything, someone should be paying ME because I’m the one doing all the hard work, am I right? Any other tips to add from you experienced runners?
5. And no more crunchies for me. Never liked them anyway! My boys and I are having planking competitions and it’s hilarious! And yes, minus the rose tattoo, that is totally me in the picture. (Insert one eyed tongue out emoji here.)
6. Cute summer countdown printable – Ours is down to 14 days! YAY and YIKES!
7. Chalkboard Update – Figured we could use the a few visual reminders as we head into summer vacation and spend more quality time together!
What Matters Most
I am overwhelmed by the kindness and support of those who visit Lovely Little Kitchen. Without you, there would be no LLK! Each month, a portion of the monthly income from LLK is set aside to support those in need.
LLK is sending support to Nepal through Samaritan’s Purse for the people devastated by the earthquake. Samaritan’s Purse has airlifted food and supplies to give relief to the victims, many who are now homeless. Praying for strength, peace, and that basic needs would be met. See how YOU can help too!
